Toxoplasmosis.
What is it? Why cat are the victims of the disinformation?

Is because the most information that is still around in the medical circle is outdated.
Is true that cats and another 6 types of felines are the primary host of this parasite, but is the least cause of the disease.

The main way of transmission is  the ingestion of raw or partly cooked meat, especially pork, lamb, or venison containing Toxoplasma cysts. Also fruits and vegetables are some way to have toxoplasmosis.
This is because we don't know what kind of hygiene have farms where the meat is processed or restaurant where we eat our salads.

The other way, the most popular in people's minds are cats, but to be infected we need the ingestion of contaminated cat feces. This can occur through hand-to-mouth contact following gardening, cleaning a cat's litter box, contact with children's sandpits, or touching a leech, and can survive in the environment for over a year.
Even then, cat faeces are not generally contagious for the first day or two after excretion, after which the cyst 'ripens' and becomes potentially pathogenic. It need at least 48-72 hrs to be pathogenic.
Most infected cats will shed oocysts only once in their lifetime, for a period of about one to two weeks.

Then, the infection by domestic cats is so hard because as owners we take our little one to the vet periodically, cleaning the litter box every day and give them dry food.

Now, if somebody tells you that is bad to have a cat because of this disease, tell them this information.
